International Landscape School – UniBg

April 9 - April 12

Free

The International Landscape School is an interdisciplinary research program initiated by UniBg’s PhD program in landscape studies. It is aimed at 20 PhD students, and aims to integrate geographical and historical theories, methods  and tools with a variety of disciplines such as linguistics, sociology, architecture and urban planning.

The program focuses on landscape as a complex, transnational concept, adressing tree main themes: landscape, terrestrial urbanity and heritage. Each session includes a specific case study, such as the Astino Valley European Landscape Award or the industrial heritage of the Scalve Valley.

The collaborative method offers an immersive approach, aiming to address global challenges through ecological, economic and digital transitions, while focusing on “territorial parcels” as local contexts to be studied at different scales.

This program is open to 10 PhD students from other UniBg’s programs or other universities. The International Landscape School is free of charge, but each PhD student must cover their own mobility and accommodation expenses.
